Global Missions Health Conference 2005

Plane, Shuttle Bus, and Automobile This past November, thirty some healthcare students and professionals congregated in Philadelphia to travel to the Global Missions Health Conference held in Louisville. We drove to BWI Airport, enjoying good food and fellowship on the way. Despite a rescue mission to retrieve a driver with a flat tire, we didn't miss our flight! |

Southeastern Christian Church It is the largest medical missions conference in the world, with over 2,500 attendees in 2005. Many missionaries from around the world flew in to give hard learned advice and encouragement. In addition to worship and large group meetings, there were over 200 workshops to choose from and 300 exhibitors. |

Prayer Walk on the Fifth Floor What is on the far side of the lobby? Those are escalators leading up to the fifth floor. Here you can shed your coat at the door, and take part in a multistage prayer walk. Each person is given a paper and pencil, to help meditate and pray through various verses. We recommend taking this time to process and reflect upon all that participants learn through the conference. |

Low Registration Cost Includes Food For students the registration cost was a mere $20, which covered the cost of food. We met at a designated site, reuniting with old friends and meeting students from other schools. |

Students' Lounge Free refreshments, prizes, and live music was provided in a student lounge. Over 1,000 students attended this year to learn about using their professions abroad or here at home. |

PCOM Represent Our largest group this year was from PCOM. Here they enjoy the accommodations of the students' lounge as they enjoy lunch. |

SMI 2005 Reunion We had a brief SMI 2005 reunion over lunch. It was wonderful to see everyone! We miss those who weren't able to make it to the conference this year. |

Host Families Our group stayed with five different families who opened up their homes to total strangers in the name of the Lord. This wonderful family has four adopted children from an Eastern Europe orphanage. We learned as much from their lives of grace as we did from the missionaries. |

|
Travel in Style Our host families went out of their way to make us breakfast and help transport us each day. This year the 15 gentlemen were shuttled to the airport in a large RV. |
